How "Natives" Think-- Sahlins
(a book about Captain Cook and how he was revered and killed by the Hawaiians as their god Lono... it seems to have been written against some other author who criticized Sahlins and many parts of the book is just plain scholarly bitchy-ness LOL)
American Modern:Bohemian New York and the Creation of a New Century -- Stansell
(its title explains its content... but i must say i picked this one up for its cover)
People say don't judge a book by its cover but why not when it looks so cool??
